The most magical time of year, is even more special now you’re a parent! Celebrating your child’s first Christmas is a big milestone and something that should be commemorated. Even though it’s lovely to buy some special gifts for your baby’s first Christmas, one of the most important things is spending time together and building traditions as a family.
One of the things I am so glad I did for Katie’s first Christmas was to take lots and LOTS of photographs. Then after Christmas I created a photobook online of all the photos and had it printed. I have done that each year and every Christmas Eve we sit down as a family, cuddled up in front of the fire with mince pies and hot chocolate and look through our albums.
Another lovely thing we did was give Katie’s grandparents two homemade Christmas Tree Decorations - one with Katie’s baby footprint and the other with her handprint. It hangs proudly on their tree every year!
Every Christmas you always have that important decision of where to spend the big day! As it your first Christmas with your little angel why don’t you invite your family over to your house? I did this for Katie’s first Christmas and it was so much easier as I didn’t have to think about traveling and packing a changing bag and we all felt more relaxed at home. To make it less stressful, members of my family each brought some food with them, which helped massively and made it more enjoyable as everyone felt they contributed!
Another wonderful Christmas tradition is to head out for a walk after Christmas dinner to burn off some of those calories! Dress your baby in something warm and venture out for some fresh air! Slumbersac Travel Wraps are great as they fit all makes of pushchairs and keep your little one cosy, warm and secure.
Even though your baby might be too young to remember their first Christmas it doesn’t mean you can’t buy them a few gifts. It is tradition after all! Slumbersac sleeping bags make the perfect gift and for that extra special touch you can have their name embroidered on it. Slumbersac has a range of newborn sleeping bags and baby comforters in different designs that look super-cute with name embroidery! You can even design your own sleeping bag with fun Christmas characters and their name - a perfect keepsake! Another great gift ideas is Slumbersac’s Baby’s First Christmas Gift Set containing all those essential items – a sleeping bag, muslin squares, baby comforter and waterproof cot sheets. They come with a free gift bag too so you don’t have to worry about wrapping!
One of the most important things is to relax and enjoy your first Christmas together. I am so glad I started building Christmas traditions with Katie, as we look forward to them every year.
Have a wonderful Christmas!
