Best Christmas Gift Ideas for Babies and Toddlers

Christmas has crept up on us once again and so it’s time to get organised and start writing your gift lists for your little ones. The earlier you start, the more chance you have of finding a bargain as many companies do special offers in the lead-up to Christmas, including one of the biggest shopping events of the year – Black Friday.

It can be really hard thinking of what to buy for babies and toddlers, so we have come up with our top 5 gift ideas to help you get your Christmas shopping all wrapped up!

For Babies:

1) A cosy sleeping bag
A sleeping bag is a lovely gift for newborn babies, providing warmth and comfort in the cold winter months. What’s more, sleeping bags are the safest way for babies to sleep, keeping them at a constant temperature, reducing the risk of them overheating. Slumbersac newborn sleeping bags are available in a range of gorgeous designs and togs for baby boys and girls. You can also choose to have their name embroidered on the sleeping bag, for a truly unique present.

2) A cuddly toy
A cuddly toy makes the perfect gift for a baby’s first Christmas. They are soft, snuggly and give the best cuddles! A child always remembers their first cuddly toy – I still have mine!

3) A baby keepsake box
A baby memory box is a lovely gift idea for a baby’s first Christmas, so you can look back on all the special memories you have made together. Ideas for your keepsake box could be a lock of hair from their first haircut, their wooly baby hat they were given at the hospital, or their first pair of baby shoes. There are lots of designs available, but my favourites are the ones you can get personalised with your baby’s name, birthday and weight.

4) A baby comforter
Slumbersac sell a wonderful selection of Baby Comforters, providing comfort for your baby during the night, but they are also fun and educational for daytime play! For an extra special gift, you can even get their name embroidered on it.

5) A beautiful baby mobile
Baby mobiles are ideal for entertaining and soothing babies. Lots of mobiles play white noise, which can help your baby sleep and they are also a great distraction for if you need five minutes to have a shower or pop to the loo!

When buying gifts for babies, always check the packaging to make sure it is suitable as some toys could pose a risk of choking for smaller children.

For Toddlers:

Now your baby is a little older you need to up your game and think of gift ideas that will keep them entertained for more than five minutes! Here are our top picks:

1) A sleeping bag with feet
Slumbersac sleeping bags with feet are great for helping your child as they learn to walk and explore their world for the first time! You can get them ready for bed nice and early and they can still play until you’re ready to put them down. Some of Slumbersac’s sleeping bags with feet now feature fold-over non slip cuffs, keeping their toes cosy and safe.

2) A teepee
Teepee tents are a fantastic gift idea for children and after a day of play, they are also a wonderful storage solution for toys! Teepees are a perfect place for kids to play, read and discover. They can also be used inside or outside, so are great whatever the weather! Some companies also give you the option of personalising them, with your child’s name.

3) A personalised book
Make story time a truly unique and special experience by including your child in the book. Personalised books nurture their imagination, build confidence and love of reading. Some of my favourites include personalised bedtime books as they provide great bonding time for parents and children.

4) A baby balance bike or scooter
Baby balance bikes and scooters are ideal for helping children to learn how to maintain their balance and take their first steps towards learning how to ride a bike. They have no pedals or chains, so your little one can propel it along with their feet, improving their coordination. They come in a range of super-cool designs too!

5) A mini kitchen
A play kitchen will provide toddlers with hours of role play fun! They are a lovely way of getting children interested in food, not to mention a great way of keeping your little chef away from the real oven, so you can concentrate on not burning the Christmas dinner!
