My inspiration for Slumbersac’s latest farmyard baby sleeping bag design came from some of the happiest times of my childhood – holidays spent on my grandparents' farm in the picturesque Austrian town of Murau. I have such vivid memories of collecting fresh eggs from the hens, milking cows in the early morning sunshine, feeding cheeky pigs, and playing for hours in the haybarn with my sister, Gemma. The rolling countryside, the simple pleasures, and the joy of being surrounded by animals and nature – it was pure magic. Those moments are stitched into every detail of this design.
As a British baby sleeping bag designer, my mission goes beyond creating beautiful prints. I want every baby sleeping bag we produce to carry a sense of comfort, adventure, and care. That motivation comes not only from my childhood but also from my experiences working with children across the world.
Slumbersac’s strong charitable ethos has shaped my creative journey in so many ways. I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible NGOs in the Philippines and Brazil, teaching art to children from underprivileged communities. At one school, I painted a large wall mural for their community centre – a joyful and colourful space where children could learn, dream, and play. These experiences deeply influence the patterns I design. I want each print to inspire children’s imaginations and help them dream of adventures of their own.
Designing a new baby sleeping bag is a real team effort. It starts with an idea – often sparked by a memory, a story, or a little sketch. We research trends, explore colour palettes, and start drafting early drawings. From there, the prints are developed into full patterns and tested on carefully selected fabrics. Each product – whether it’s one of our signature sleeping bags, soft babywear, ponchos or cuddly toys – is made with care, comfort, and creativity at heart.
There’s a real buzz when the first factory samples arrive. Seeing our vision come to life – and watching children interact with the designs at photoshoots – is incredibly rewarding. It’s the moment all the hard work becomes real.
We’ve got lots of exciting new ideas and prints coming soon – we can’t wait to share them with you.
With love,
