It falls on a different date every year (this year Tuesday 25th February 2020), and marks the start of the Christian festival of Lent. It is the beginning of the 40 days leading up to Easter, which is on the 12th April 2020. Lent is traditionally a time of fasting and a lot of people give up things during this period, such as chocolate and alcohol. Although, if you’re a new parent you may find you’ve already given up a lot, the main thing being sleep!
Here is a nice and simple pancake recipe, using three main ingredients. It should make at least 10 pancakes depending on the size of your pan.
Ingredients:
100g Plain Flour
2 Large Eggs
300ml Semi Skimmed Milk
1. Start by beating the egg into the milk.
2. Sift the 100g of plain flour into a bowl and make a well in the centre of the flour. Slowly add the milk and egg mixture into the flour until you have a smooth consistency.
3. Leave the batter to settle for 20-30 minutes, although this is not crucial.
4. Melt some butter in a frying pan and then add the pancake batter into the pan. Cook for 1 minute on each side until golden. Here is where you can practice your flipping skills!
5. Serve and enjoy!
