How to spend Mother’s Day
Start the day by having a lie in and sleep later
Daddy can take care of the kids and prepare breakfast. This is your day.
Gifts
A gift doesn't have to be expensive and, in fact, it is often nicer to receive a homemade, thoughtful gift from your children on Mother's Day. A homemade card with a special drawing on the front can be a long-lasting memory that you can store away for years to come and remember how little they once were. If they are very small, you can get a handprint or footprint as a lasting memory as babies grow incredibly fast.
Take an hour for you
Take some time to yourself to maybe call a friend, read a book or soak in the bath.
Spend time together
Afterwards, take a walk outside or visit a park together with your family, pack a picnic, order a pizza or eat lunch out. If your baby is old enough you could start a new family tradition by taking a trip to a certain place every year that will be fun and quality time for the whole family. This will create memories, which will be treasured for years to come.
You are a mother and a child now
Don’t forget your own mum - it’s her day as well. But, for you, it’s the first Mother’s Day; so if you are not up to spending the day with her this year, she should understand. Give her a call, send some flowers or a homemade card and get together with her on another day. The same applies to your husband and his mum.
Keep in mind, Mother’s Day is about you and it is your decision how to spend it. Do whatever you are up to and, most importantly, enjoy it!
