Bake some Christmas food
Everyone loves Christmas food and nothing says Christmas quite like some brilliant bakes. Everyone’s favourite are some Christmas cookies which little ones can decorate however they wish. Use some Christmas tree or snowman-shaped cookie stencils to get the right shape. Mums and dads, if you’re feeling adventurous why not create your very own Christmas cake or Christmas pudding that the whole family can enjoy.
Decorate a gingerbread house
A great way to spend a rainy, miserable cold day outside is to spend it inside in the warm decorating a gingerbread house. You can even make it a competition within the family on who can make theirs look the best.
Make your own Christmas tree decorations
If you’re trying to cut back on your spending over Christmas, a great crafty idea is to create your own decorations. Children will find this very fun as they love to get creative, and for the parents it’s very sentimental to keep for future Christmases to come.
Watch a Christmas movie at home
Everyone loves a Christmas film and it makes for such a cosy day all together. Grab a hot chocolate and a sweet treat from a selection box and get comfy on the sofa. Keep an eye out for new releases as well as everyone's favourite classics.
Wreath-Making
If the weather isn’t too cold and wet a good idea to get everyone out of the house is to take the family for a winter walk. Here you can gather tree branches and pine cones and other leaves to create your own Christmas wreaths. Attach your greens to a foam ring and allow the kids to decorate it with Christmas ornaments and bows.
Take a drive to see the neighbourhood Christmas lights
Why not all jump in the car and go on an evening tour around your town, looking out for all the Christmas lights and decorations? It’s also a great way to get some inspiration for next year’s decorations.
Most importantly, Christmas family time is about making memories together so have a lovely time, relax and enjoy this quality time.
